COSRX AHA Whitehead Power Liquid Review

COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power LiquidEveryone suffers from some form of acne, whether it is blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, cystic acne, etc., it is all classified as Acne – and Acne is a real B I T C H, excuse the language, but you all know I’m telling the truth.

As someone who has suffered from mild to moderate acne since my teens I have been on the manhunt to find products that keep my skin as clear and poreless as humanly possible FOREVER, and I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars along the way trying to find my Holy Grail products. I’ve purchased everything from super high-end regimens, facial packages at spas, laser treatments at the Dermatologist’s office, drugstore brands, and everything in between. Each category rendered some success, but none offered the kind of results I wanted or expected. That is until I started using COSRX skincare products and found my product combination that works.

Before I get into all the details about COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid I’m going to tell you that I believe that you do not have to use products from the same brand to achieve great results, and just because you love one product from a brand, it doesn’t mean that you will love all products from that brand – or that your skin will love every formula. So, having said that I encourage each of you to use the products that you have liked and not concern yourself with buying an entire regimen strictly from one brand (unless, of course, that is what works for you).

The second thing I want to say is that I am not a dermatologist, doctor, scientist, aesthetician, or any other kind of “skin expert,” nor am I warranting any product discussed on my site, including this one. Now that we have all that out of the way, lets talk Whiteheads…..

This Whitehead “Power Liquid” is a powerhouse treatment that removes pore-clogging debris and dead skin cells to reveal smooth, clear, bright and even-toned skin. The first and most abundant ingredient is a natural AHA (Apple Water) and the added Glycolic Acid (Fourth on the ingredient list) makes for an extremely effective exfoliant that is formulated gently enough not to irritate sensitive skin.

As I mentioned earlier I have a real issue with whiteheads on my chin, blackheads on my nose, and I do get the occasional pimple on the cheek or chin. You will not ever be able to tell from my pics (thankfully) and that is because I am diligent with caring for my skin – trust me when I tell you though, if I skip more than 1 day on my beauty routine, my skin will immediately begin breaking-out.

One of the first things that attracted me to COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid was the short and sweet ingredient list, the second thing that attracted me was the affordable price.

I have used other exfoliants from other brands (including this one) and I find them to work on small blackheads, however, they do not work for me on whiteheads or on pimples. This one does though, and as an added bonus this product also reduces the appearance of fine lines, sun damage and hyper pigmentation while diminishing the size of my pores. This product is an absolute Super Star, Holy Grail item for me and is on my MUST BUY LIST.

Please Note: You might experience some dryness when you first begin using this product. If exfoliants are new for you I would recommend using this only a few times a week and then adjusting to daily. I currently use it 2 times daily, if I feel I am getting dry I switch this to only 1x per day.

This is the order in which I use this product in my regimen – feel free to adjust this to what works for you:

  1. Eye Makeup Remover
  2. Oil Cleanser (only if I have on a full face of makeup – otherwise I go straight to #3)
  3. Face Cleanser
  4. Toner
  5. COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid
  6. Essence or Serum – depends on how much hydration I feel I need
  7. Sunscreen during the day or Night Cream at night
  8. Eye Cream
  9. Neck and Decolletage Cream (I use a more moisturizing formula on these areas)

Here is the full list of ingredients for your review.

Ingredients: Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycolic Acid, Niacinamide, Sodium Hydroxide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol

I do have horrible whiteheads as well which i dont understand.. my chin and my nose are horrible. but the rest of my face is fine, i only have acne if its time of the month and i have small pores 🙁
i always try to search how to diminish whiteheads but a lot of blogger, youtuber are mainly talked about blackheads only.. how many days you see the difference on ur whitheads after using this product ?

Hi, thanks for asking. I saw a difference after about 2 weeks. Whiteheads are a lot deeper than blackheads are so they take longer and are harder to treat. I also find that if I skip days, or washing that I immediately see it getting worse. I hope this helps.

Hi there! So this product really helped to remove whiteheads? Cosrx’s BHA has helped immensely with my blackheads, but the whiteheads are another problem. Whew! Thanks! 🙂

    • Hi, thanks for writing in. Yes, it did help me a lot. It wasn’t an overnight fix, it did take daily use (2x per day) for at least 2 weeks. Now that my chin is under control I do maintenance like 3-5x per week use.

Hi! I’ve tried this 3 times already (different days), but I’m unfortunately finding my skin on the following day, full of whiteheads, or I’m not sure if it’s whiteheads but kind of like tiny little yellow acne.. 🙁 there’s at least 12 of those PER SIDE of my nose!! It’s horrifying.
    – I was wondering if this is a normal process?
    – Is it like just the first stage, bringing out all the dirt?
    – Has anyone experienced this as well?

Really hoping for an answer as a lot have been loving this product and I am trying my best to love it as well. T_T

    Thank you!

Hi, thanks for writing in. I do not think this is normal. First thing I would check is the expiration date. Second thing, making sure that you purchased this from a reputable location. Unfortunately, counterfit skincare and cosmetic items on the web is much more prevalent than you might think. Did you buy through Ebay or Amazon? Further, products that have active ingredients like BHA, AHA, salicylic acid, etc. need stability. In other words if they are exposed to extreme heat, or cold, direct sunlight, etc. the active ingredients no longer work. Right now it is so hot on the East Coast that I have had some troubles with makeup purchased online because it sits on my porch all day in the sun – melted lipstick, etc. If none of these seem to be the issue, I would say that no product works overnight and 3x of use, is generally not enough time to see if something is effective. I sincerely suggest that you use the product 1x per day, at bedtime and do not put any additional products above or below it. Use a cotton pad to apply. After 2 weeks if you are still experiencing these “whiteheads” I would discontinue use. If that is the case then you are likely having a reaction to one of the ingredients and might even have an allergy to it. I would love to see a pic of the “whiteheads” to be sure that is what it is. Also, please do follow-up and tell me about your progress, if any. I hope this does work!

Help! How do I know if I’m purging or not?

Skin Type: Oily although it seems the oiliness is lessening? It is shiny though. Asian. Fairly Hot & Humid Weather.

    Current Routine
    AM
    CosRx Good Morning Cleanser
    Klairs Supple Preparation Toner
    CosRx Snail Essence
    CosRx Birch Sap Moisturizer

    PM
    Heimish Cleansing Balm
CosRx Good Morning Cleanser – everyday
    CosRx Pimple Pads – everyday
    CosRx AHA Whitehead <REASON
    CosRx Snail Essence – everyday
CosRx Birch Sap Moisturizer – everyday
CosRx Centella Blesmish Cream – everyday

    Sometimes:
    Klairs Vitamin C Serum
    Face Masks

How long with current routine: 3 months

How long with product in question: 4 weeks with CosRx AHA Whitehead. I've introduced it slowly by mixing it with my moisturizer/centella blemish cream for 2x a week for the past 2 weeks. This week I applied it after the pimple pad without mixing it through a cotton pad.

Problem: I can't know for certain if it's purging or breaking out. I've been reading blogs and it said that it can cause purging to the areas where you have clogged pores (which is all over my face), closed comedones (cheeks & chin) & pimples in my forehead. I've been recently getting red inflamed ones overnight and I'm just not sure if I'm purging or not. I get it in my forehead a lot, a few on my chin and really tiny skintone bumps in the cheeks. I took pictures of my skin on a weekly basis but it doesn't seem to improve. In fact I think it's getting worse now on the 4th week. I know blogs said 6-8weeks but for AHA it might be just for 2 weeks. So, I don't know if I should ditch the product and run to the dermclinic. 😭

I think that you are using too many products at the same time to know what is and isn’t causing the problem. Until your skin gets under control I suggest using a gentle cleanser, and the COSRX with nothing else. If you continue to see comedones and blemishes then I would recommend discontinuing that product. If not, slowly introduce something else into your routine. Let me know how it goes.
